Infographic: The Evolution of the Telephone
This week — with the launch of T-Hub 2 — I’ve been talking to a lot of people about how the home phone has evolved in Australia.
It’s fascinating to look back at the home phone’s history.
For instance, did you know that 100 years ago to this month the Post Master General – the forerunner organisation to Telstra – introduced the automated telephone call? That meant customers could pick up a telephone receiver, dial a number and be connected without the need to talk to a switch board operator!
The home phone has come a long way since then evolving from the rotary dial to the push button variety. They’ve even gone cordless.
To see just how far we’ve come, check out our infographic charting the development of the Australian home phone.
