Despite torrential rain, thunder and lightning crashing its way into the 20^th anniversary of Tropfest in Sydney’s Domain, the event was attended by thousands, with a stellar line-up of celebrities and independent film-makers coming together to watch the very best of Australian short film. We spent some time with Jason Van Genderen who the Telstra Mobile Masterpieces category with ‘The 53^rd Hour’ on the black carpet before the fest kicked off. Telstra Mobile Masterpieces challenges filmmakers to make a short film on their mobile device and is at the leading edge of film trends as more and more filmmakers across the globe embrace portable filmmaking.
