Chipping In to make a difference

chip-in-tradingpost-blog-header

Whether you’re into beer making, bird watching or backgammon, Australia’s a nation full of clubs and community groups, where even the enthusiasts of the most unusual hobbies can find a place to belong.

Growing up in Ballarat, I’d often see the local Living History Society recreating a medieval battle from ye olde times on the banks of Lake Wendouree, much to the bewilderment of passersby.

Every day members of hundreds of clubs and community groups in Australia give their time to make a difference. Whether it’s the Surf Life Savers, the CFA, or groups like Clean Up Australia and The Smith Family, they all do a great job.

At tradingpost.com.au, we salute clubs and community groups and think they all deserve to get something back. Which is why we’re chipping in.

The Tradingpost Chip In program is an easy fundraising initiative that clubs can join for free.  Then every time you list an item for sale on Tradingpost, we’ll give 50% of the cost of your ad back to your club.

There’s also a quarterly prize draw of $1,000 for all participating clubs. Our first winner was Kareela Public School in Sydney and they’ve already got plans to put it to great use.

Chip In was launched in November and the list of participating clubs is growing every day. We’ve also had a couple of big charity groups join up, with the McGrath Foundation and Starlight Children’s Foundation recently coming on board. We’re really proud of the program as it’s our way of giving back to the community. And saying thanks.

If you’re part of a club and want to participate, find out more on how to participate in the Tradingpost Chip In program here.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to get my jousting sticks and armour ready – I have a very important meeting to get to.

I really thought the trading post was the forgotten product at Telstra, it is so broken and seems to never get better

I would honestly really love to use the site more often, could someone please allocate some resources towards getting it fixed, searching times out often, getting to a second page of results is next to impossible, the iPhone app is the same, heaps of time out errors and inability to complete searches, for the sake of the people that spend their money advertising there the online side of the trading post really needs to function much better, perhaps those that are involved should step outside of the corporate lan when testing the functionality of the site and see just how poorly it works

  2. Thanks for your feedback Rick – we take it very seriously.

We’re well aware of the current limitations of the site and iPhone app and will be working hard this year to correct the issues.

We know our customers want to use Tradingpost more often but can find it frustrating at times. So we’re hoping that the work we do in 2012 will result in a better experience for both our buyers and sellers.
