If it hasn’t dawned on you yet, next Tuesday is Valentine’s Day.  That’s right everyone, you have but a weekend to gather your romantic sentiments and start planning to woo the special one in your life.  Now if you’d forgotten about this momentous occasion I consider myself thanked, because I’m giving you a last minute heads up before you have to dash into the local servo on Tuesday to grab the last box of chocolates for your beloved.  I’m also amazed at your magical powers because you have somehow managed to avoid the Valentine’s Day invasion- come February a general wave of pink, love and roses invades retail spaces across the country.

I’m lucky enough to have snagged myself a date on Valentine’s Day, and as much as I truly believe we should keep up the romantic gestures every day possible, sometimes we get swept up in our busy little lives and routine rules.  That’s why I am a fan of Valentine’s Day- it’s a great chance to slow down, take stock and let the special people in our lives know that we really love them.  Not to mention I’m also a fan of flowers, gifts and spontaneous gestures that share all warm and fuzzy feelings… (Hint hint )

But really it’s the little things that count- your gift doesn’t have to be the most expensive thing in the world to win over your special someone. And if you aren’t up for the ridiculously expensive flowers, (which mysteriously jump up ten dollars the weekend before Valentine’s…) how about a declaration of love, with your name beside your Valentine’s, up in lights on Telstra’s Billboard of Love, all for the price of a text message?

Plus, to help “spread the love” even further, everyone who participates will receive a free MMS featuring a virtual replica of what their message looked like on the big screen. So even if you can’t make it to Melbourne to see your pic in real life, you have a replica of your declaration to share. And if you are a single guy or girl it’s a handy Valentine’s present to yourself… A nice love pic posted on Facebook for old school friends or an ex to see… (“see I am successfully coupled, totally not sitting at home watching Romeo & Juliet and eating my way through a block of chocolate…”) or a present for mum to keep her off your back… (“I’m totally dating, I think he/she could be marriage potential…”)
