Here we go again. Nokia N9 PR1.3 came out last week for everyone who owns a NON BRANDED N9.

How long will this take for Telstra to check if the phone still dials 000 and clear it?

You mean PR1.2. Beat me to it....
Not sure where on earth the idea was obtained that it won't be available till late April early May.
Well done to the approval team, lines of communication clearly need to be better though.
And some "community managers" srsly need to keep their attitude in check.

Hi,

I would like to congratulate Telstra for pushing through update PR2.2 today. Thank you for being so fast and efficient. It looks like something changed in the way Telstra does update approvals. Whatever that is, it's only for the best.

Um you can use NokiaSuite, but only up to 3.2.100, which is still quite recent.
It has an update mechanism built-in that's basically just like NSU.
For advice on how to get it installed, search this guide for "Nokia Suite"
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1a85BouTEB_Cr-K4StgDspSXUeWps-MwsA9gEyYtfrDI/edit

I can assure you "bucket loads" has changed with 1.2...
Had you followed several of the threads that cover that at TMO, you'd know that.

The dload limit issue you raise has affected some, & is lodged in the tracker.
IIRC NS "does" back-up the entire app...
Even if it doesn't, there's a few ways to extract/back-up all your apps.
Not doco'd in that guide yet IIRC, but it's out there.

Why on earth are you posting all this here anyway?
You'll get far better advice/feedback at TMO, FMC, or the N9 thread at whirlpool.net.au.

Below might sound sarcastic, but its not reallly. It is my experience with the Nokia update installation process.

hmm, first download nokia suite (Which is incompatible with this phone), then download nokia link (only to discover nothing regarding updating software) only to do a search on nokia site and find "nokia software updater" which is another app i need to install. but that is ok.

spend 4hrs downloading the update (on an ADSL2+ non-limited account). Download/Install completes and what has changed?

1> Battery indicator on "standby" screen when charging.
2> the "music controls on home screen" nokia refer to, hmm, it just displays song name on your wallpaper screen, nothing else
3> MMS Now allows you to select contact number when creating (but still has no option to use email addresses)

And YES the backup process does "save" your app data preferences etc (including photos etc) BUT it does not save the apps so you need to redownload each and every one of them once the update is completed.

I had 4 apps from Noikia Store which i purchased prior to the upgrade, and now 2 of them are responding "too many attempts to download". It may only be $2 per app but that is beside the point.

A 3rd one actually let me download it (previously purchased) and THEN sent me an email to advise me of another $2 charge to my mobile account.

Yippee.

Telstra.com says PR1.1 is available.
Just use nokia suite to download it.

EXCELLENT. Guess What, as per Nokia advice for the past few months Nokia Suite DOES NOT SUPPORT N9 so it will not even open (yes I have the latest version). It tells me to get nokia link instead. I get nokia link and it has no options in it to update phone software.

So now there is an update available, but no obvious way to obtain it. (please dont tell me we have to dump our phone at telstra shop for update, because last time i went there the answer was 'take it to nokia').

@Dan,

Thanks for the feed-back but that can't be right.
Your fw approval team would've had early access to 1.2 builds.
That is normally standard fair...

So they're claiming they didn't get 1.2 till last Fri?*
Even if true, why do they need 2mth before they can pass it!?
The length of time you guys take compared to other telcos is crazy!

Thank-you.
*they should've at least got it the day it 1st started publicly rolling, which was about the 26th IIRC!
