While I can hardly get up the energy to ride my dilapidated old bike to the corner shop these days, a colleague of mine is commencing a bike ride which is longer than the Tour de France (which is approximately 3,600 kilometres).
Dave Dowdle is a project specialist with Telstra Corporate Projects, Network Construction. Dave is about to ride a push bike from Perth to Melbourne (over 4,000 kilometres) for a cause very close to his heart.
Dave commenced the ride on Sunday 25 September and rides for 28 days with an additional eight rest days thrown in.
I would be grateful if you could sponsor Dave and support the worthy cause to raise funds for mental health research.
Mental health issues affect at least 1 in 5 people in Australia. It is part of life’s rough times and harder to beat when kept secret.
What acts of kindness do you have planned for this weekend? May I suggest that you follow Dave’s blog and support him to raise his goal of $20,000 for the Mental Health Research Institute and encourage him along the way?
GO Dave!

Good on you Dave, and best wishes for your trip. What a fantastic way to drive awareness for a very under-resourced health issue faced by so many Australians and their loved ones.
