Blurtl app launches mobile audio updates for Facebook

blurtl-blog-header

Hi my name is Vyvyan… and I am a Facebook addict. From “checking in” (at home!), “liking” the photo I just posted of the sandwich I just ate, or spending way too much time crafting the perfect (yet effortlessly witty) status update, I’m unashamedly addicted.

Luckily for me though, as a Digital Marketing & Social Media Manager at Telstra, knowing the ins and outs of Facebook is critical to my role. So it’s no surprise that when I caught wind of this new Facebook idea, I was one of the first to put my hand up to help out…

Blurt what?!

Over the past few months, we’ve been working hard to develop an amazing new app which will allow Facebook fans to leave audio status updates and post voice messages on friend’s walls, via their mobile phone!

Pretty cool hey?!

The new service, known as Blurtl™, lets you:

  • POST a 30 second audio status update to their Facebook page;
  • SHARE a 30 second audio post on up to five nominated friends walls;
  • PLAY their Blurtl™ message by clicking the audio file on Facebook.

So whether you’re recording your baby’s first words to share with the world, singing Happy Birthday to your best friend in London or sharing engagement news in real time with your friends, we expect Blurtl™ will certainly add a dose of extra personality to Aussie Facebook pages.

And it really is super simple to set up (I promise). Just:

  1. Visit Telstra’s Facebook page, click on the Blurtl™ tab and follow the simple steps to register;
  2. Dial 0458 BLURTL (0458 258 785) from any Australian mobile phone (standard call charges apply);
  3. Leave a 30 second message;
  4. Check out your Blurtl™ on Facebook.

Give it a go – would love to know what you think.

    When calling the 0458 BLURTL (0458 258 785) is this included in all cap plans or is it classified as a premium number. EG I’m on the Telstra 49 cap.

    • Brendan O'Keefe [T-EX Customer Engagement Manager] says:

      Hi Larry. 0458 BLURTL is a standard number, so it’s included in your Telstra cap. Cheers, Brendan

    Some feed back for you. I have had many ask do they have to listen to a BLURTL on their mobile. They are asking this as the way it is set out when a BLURTL is posted. The priority link says “Listen to Blurtl on Your Mobile”. Its not clear that it can be heard on you computer. Purley as a suggestion perhaps you could make it clear that there are the 2 links. One to listed “HERE” and one to listen on your mobile.
