  1. Brad Kellett says:

Before convincing people to pay me as a software engineer, I reviewed mobile phones for an online news outlet. Most of the job was working out the flaws in devices, meaning I hate every phone I’ve used for one reason or another, yet they are an essential part of my day to day life. My mobile is never not by my side, and being able to efficiently get things done with it is crucial. Good luck Windows Phone 7!

  2. Damien Kelly says:

My current iPhone is more than a communication device. It’s my portable media player, game platform, newspaper and camera. It has let me capture and share my daughters first moments with my family and friends around the world. A year ago I said I’d never buy a phone other than an iPhone, however Windows Phone 7 sparked my interest with its Xbox integration, Zune media player and unique tiled design. I’m looking forward to testing out the HTC Mozarts ability to capture and share my life with family and friends and seeing if it can compete with the iPhone.

  3. As an iphone devotee I look forward to reviewing the HTC Mozart in the hope it bridges my love for twitter, facebook etc with my need to stay connected to my workplace professionally.
I look forward to sharing my travels around Aus via the HTC Mozart whilst being able to sync my exchange email. I look forward to testing out how flexible the phone is between my work and social need.

  4. Jodie Miners says:

I had 6 phones last year, including the iPhone, trying to find the perfect phone. I now have the HTC Desire Android phone and I love it. Will the Windows Phone 7 stack up to either the iPhone or the Android? Will I fall in love with this phone as I have with the Android, stay tuned to find out.

  5. The Social Review is a great opportunity to get my hands on the latest tech and share with heaps of people my experience tin using it on the Telstra NextG network. Microsoft’s reboot and entry to the phone market with Windows Phone 7 is an exciting one, and one I’ve been waiting for some time for. I expect a great experience coupling Australia’s premier telco and the world’s largest software developer.

  6. I’m at once a lover of modern gadgets and a hopeless luddite. I’ve never owned a smartphone before, but am happy to jump in the deep end with a new handset, a new operating system and a new network. I’m particularly looking forward to how a smartphone might aid my work as a journalist, and my hobbies of blogging and theatre. I expect any problems I encounter will be invariably a result of my own incompetence. But I’m confident it will at least be entertaining to watch, although admittedly in a “minor car crash” kind of way.

  7. Being used to the iOS and Android smartphone platforms, I’m looking forward to what Windows Phone 7 has to offer in features, functions & application support.

  8. It’s hard to imagine that 12 months ago, everybody had written off Microsoft in the mobile space. Now, a lot of pundits are suggesting that Windows Phone 7 has a real chance at succeeding once again.

Everything I have read and watched about it leaves no doubt in my mind that the experience is going to be great. Android was heralded as the first real iPhone competitor, but Windows Phone 7 is in a different league. I have pretty high expectations!

  9. Peter Murphy says:

I’m by no means an IT specialist, or even working in tech related industry, by day I’m a chef. I admit openly, that I purposely modify, and flash custom Roms to the devices that I buy, constantly trying to get the best out of the power packed handsets that are available on the market at the moment.
Constantly amazed at the power that can be packed into a pocketable device, comparable now to a netbook, I just want to see what they can do!

  10. The expectations of Microsoft’s reboot of their smartphone franchise are high. What I’m looking for is how will the Windows Phone 7 experience hold up against the current high water mark of the smartphone experience – the iPhone 4. In particular, I’m very keen to try out the new hub based experience of consuming information as compared to the app experience on iOS as well as putting the media capabilities (especially for photography and videography) of the HTC Mozart through its paces.

  11. Jess Nichols says:

I’m known for being a late adopter of new technology – right before I got the call letting me know I was to be involved in this review, I had upgraded my Nokia e71 to an iPhone 4 – so I have no experience in using “real smartphones” (according to my friends). I’ve heard good things about Windows Phone 7 and it’ll be interesting to see if it can give my iPhone a run for its money. I think my major focus will be around how awesome it is when using social media as I live and breathe Twitter, Facebook and Foursquare.

  12. Matt Coutts says:

I don’t honestly know what to expect out of the Social Media Review program, other than it will be an interesting test as a guy in SMB to see how these phones would work for both myself and the business. I’m a tinkerer at heart, I can’t wait to see how the phone plays to that interest.

  13. I’m expecting the social review to be a unique way to experience the social features of the WP7 as well as give useful feedback to other people.

  14. Ben Taylor says:

I am personally most interested in the web performance of the Windows Phone 7 device. However as someone who has developed applications for Android and Web Applications for iPhone I am also looking forward to creating some small app. From what I have heard in online reviews I expect that browser rendering will be fast and smooth. But I would like to test this myself with a series of HTML5 tests. From previous good experiences of the Telstra network I am also wondering what sort of data coverage I will see, as currently I often see drop outs and slow speeds.

  15. grum says:

As a man who has spent way too many years glued to his smartphone, its time I venture into the unknown and visit the seventh land of the Windows Phone realm.
Will the Mozart live up to the Hype? Will grum throw away his iPhone and replace iOS for WM7 as his primary choice of mobile operating system? Will he be a knob by mentioning the term “iPhone killer” in his review? Only time will tell. Well, not time actually. Moreso some guy named grum. Time is a system to measure sequential relations between particular events thus is unable to review a mobile phone. Duh.

  16. Windows Phone 7 is a dramatic change in interface and functionality from previous Windows mobile operating systems and a step away from the direction Apple and Google are taking with their mobile OS’s. I imagine it will take a few days to get used to the different way of working and that my first posts will reflect having to change the way I use my handset. As someone who lives online, I’m interested in seeing how this OS will change and benefit my always-connected lifestyle with email, web, tweets, photos and video in addition to being a portable media player.

  17. Shane Perris says:

User experience is important to me. Although I am a geek by most measures of society, I still hate technology that is harder to use than it needs to be. Right now, when it comes to portable devices, I have found iOS to provide the best user experience on the market.

Yet, still, I find it wanting at times. With WP7, Microsoft sounds like it is trying to *ahem* think different. I want to see just how different it really is.

  18. Bryce Wilson says:

I one hundred percent expect the HTC Mozart to be a brilliant device, and with the booming nature of social networking today, the Facebook integration in this device looks impressive and seems to make it even easier to keep in touch with everyone.
I’m looking forward to using the sleek and responsive interface, and I know the touch screen will simply blow me away. But more than anything I just can’t wait to get my hands on one of this years most impressive releases.

  19. Glenn Wilson says:

I would like to assist people in making the right choice for their next Mobile device, I hope to do this by providing an honest review of the features of the device and how to use them. For the developer I would like to introduce them to the easy task of developing software for the Windows Phone 7 Device, and for the gamer I would like to show them how much fun it can be.

  20. I’m eager to try the HTC 7 Mozart, I’ve avoided other OS, due compatibility concerns with Windows, I’m eager to see the simple things working, from the calendar, alarm and contact lists, which I use on a daily basis.

I’m also interested in reception qualities and docking abilities when used as a modem with laptop. My phone is never far from my side and I constantly fiddle. Is the phone user-friendly for big fingers? Will the touch-screen hold up to normal rough and tumble of life, without complicated covers, bumpers etc?

  21. Steve Wright says:

I can’t live without my iPhone – I’m a heavy data user, constantly using email and apps for media streaming, social networking, and remote access. I’ve literally found “an app for that”…plus anything else that’s just plain ol’ cool.
In reviews, I’ll be looking to see if the HTC 7 Mozart and WP7 can prove to be equal to or better than the iPhone when weighed against my needs.
As an Xbox nut, I’m very excited about Live functionality (and achievements!) inside WP7; if executed well, it could very well be the deciding factor in the iPhone vs WP7 battle.

  22. Andrew Sayer says:

First I was Apple-ised with the iPhone and now I have been Android-ised with Google’s offering. For this social review I am putting all preconceived ideas about Microsoft away and looking at this operating platform for what it is and give honest reviews.

I have a suspicion there will be areas where it fails but the good quality camera and lovely aesthetics may offset these.

  23. Evan Smith says:

From an IT Management point of view I want a phone that is fast to deploy, easy to manage, easy to learn for users and it should just work. Email, contacts and calendars are king at work but when it comes to using my phone in my own time I like to take high quality pictures/video and upload them straight to Flickr/YouTube over 3G. I should be able to use my location and social networking apps quickly and easily as well as get notifications of what’s happening.

Finding information quickly when I’m mobile is important, for content on the phone and on the web. I don’t want to carry multiple phones around so a device that can easily separate my work and personal life is important.

    • Dean Roberts says:

Well from my experience with the Lg Optimus7q I can tell uou a few things that have disapointed me about the new windows phone op system.

No Internet sharing, no ability to create extra folders on email or sync with Outlook. Cannot download from the net without purchasing a 3rd party app or transfers files to the phone again without purchasing an app. No file explorer.

Old windows mobile 6.1 had all these features without having to purchase additional software.

I even had antivirus software on the old phone and I cannot see how it can be installed on the new phone at the moment.

Great reception for data and telephone in rural and regional areas from my experience as a interstate truxk driver.

To me this phone is more of a competitor to the iphone and android system than a windows platform phone.

It cant even connect with a windows based pc/laptop.

  24. As a community manager I need to always be connected. As such there are certain requirements that I need a mobile device to have. I need easy access to email, social media and an easy-to-use web browser so that I’m able to do my job no matter where I go.
The Windows 7 Phone has an advantage over other devices that interests me and that is it’s Xbox Live support. Being able to tie into Xbox Live could be very useful and is something I’ll be keeping a close eye on during my review of the phone.
