The Social Buzz – Super Swarm

blog-digital-buzz-65-degrees-banner

We love to support people doing good things on social media. If you or a company you know is doing something we should know about and we can help spread the word, let us know on this blog.
The Social Buzz - Super Swarm
This week, we’d like to support Gabby, Jim, Con and Peter at 65 Degrees cafe. They are also the owners of Gridlock Coffee Roasters. Just to keep this upfront and transparent, my team has started a Coffee Club and when we have a moment we attempt to find the best coffee in the Melbourne CBD. We come back to the office and rank the cafe on a grid (written on a window in the office). 65 Degrees is currently ranking in first place - so we are paying customers of 65 Degrees and love their coffee.

So what is special about 65 Degrees?

Jim, Con and Peter Haralambopoulos are the owners of 65 Degrees cafe and Gridlock Coffee roasters. They have been in the cafe / catering field for over 20 years, with 65 Degrees being the 4th cafe they have owned during that time. Con is a champion barista, having won many competitions both here and overseas. In 2008, he won the World Latte Art Championship in Copenhagen.

What’s the social buzz?

They are attempting a Super Swarm this Friday, September 10 using Foursquare.

Once you are at the cafe, check-in to their venue on Foursquare between 6am-9am you will get a great coffee for $1. If more than 50 people check in you all earn a virtual ‘Swarm’ badge, if more than 250, its a ‘Super Swarm’. I don’t know of any other Melbourne cafe that has achieved a Super Swarm so it might be fun to be involved.

You can find 65 Degrees at

309 Exhibition St

  5. Peter Zak says:

Loved the concept of super swarm and will investigate its similalr use in the non profit events. We were involved in a schools combined event in which the speakers were Premier Morris Iemma, Police Commissioner Ken Moroney and Head of Social Services Gerard Vamadevan and whilst it was a success, this concept would have added to the numbers.

  6. Steve says:

Big ups to the guys at 65 Degrees great Super Swarm concept to promote their no doubt delectable wares, sorry I missed it.

It would be awesome if The Social Buzz could help with promoting 13CABS Taxi Booker a third party Facebook application that allows Melbourne peeps to book Cabs and stay connected with their friends.

    Check out 13CABS Taxi Booker:

let us know what you guys think, would be great to get some feedback on how we can improve it.
