Too bad we cant use NextG, at Charlotte’s Pass Ski resort in NSW. Lots of skiers, lots of mobile phones, but no coverage!
Skiers rely on their mobile phones, to stay in touch with their companions. It is easy to get separated, when on the slopes, so mobile coverage is crucial.
I hear the complaints everytime I am down there.
Especially when I say I work for Telstra.
It would be a fantastic thing if mobiles could somehow double as very basic avalanche transceivers (maybe via a waterproof case), or be mapped to mountain maps to guide skiers onto rhe correct lifts (by lift name) to get to a particular location or find friends / groups who you have lost.
Great idea -$300 credit to use on the Mt. I was down at Hotham two weeks ago: 45cm new snow, helmet with sound, iPhone 3GS loaded with beats, and i’ve got NextG coverage all the way up Heavenly chairlift for an itunes download refresh. Amazing technology!
