iPad® mania – was it worth it?

Wow, what an epic night… when I rocked up yesterday – almost 30 hours before the iPad actually went on sale - I had some idea how ‘big’ this whole experience would be as i’ve been at the last two major Apple launches. This time however I was front and centre!
From the never-ending rain, to late-night coffee pick-me-ups, an absolutely freezing morning and a huge media scrum, this is 29 hours of my life I’ll never ever forget!
Plus, the coolest thing is I’m officially the first Aussie to buy the iPad – what an honour.
I’ll be playing with the iPad over the next dew days so leave a comment and let me know what features, apps etc you want to see.
Adios… it’s time to start playing with my new favourite toy

Rahul, well done! I just came back from playing with an iPad – what an amazing bit of technology. I look forward to reading about your experience with it.
Hello Rahul,
I saw u sitting out the front there in the shocking weather! Hope you fared well and enjoying your new toy!!
Chris
IPAD … what a useless piece of technology
Good stuff Rahul
All I can say is kudos for hanging out in the cold for 2 days, the iPad is every bit it promises and more.
Funnily enough the it’s the genuine Apple iPad case the is selling like hot cakes where they are double and triple the price on e-bay. I can’t get it anywhere in Sydney!
Now the most surprising thing, 4 out of 5 of my friends opted to get the Telstra iPad prepaid sim, simply for coverage, Telstra is on a winner here!
Rahul,
Managed to see you on the morning show Today on Channel 9 near the front of the line.
Well done!
Bought an iPad, awesome. Getting it connected to Telstra, bloody nightmare. 2 days so far and still cannot get them to connect the 3G correctly. The call centre is unbelievably useless, tip don’t use Telstra. They don’t have a clue what they are doing.
Now theres a way to create product interest! Not saying we should copy, but anything similar planned for T-Box?
Michael
Well – I walked into Jb Hi Fi in Woden Canberra at 9:15 on Friday and bought my Ipad. It is brilliant by the way – I got my Mother in law hooked on peggle, I think its only a matter of time before she gets one too.
My best friend, Anoop, was the second guy after Rahul to buy the Ipad – so I will remember the third guy in Australia to buy the Ipad
Love my Ipad. Fantastic!
Bought on Friday.
3G didn’t work, even though it had been activated
Earlier in the week at the telstra shop.
Suddenly worked on Saturday afternoon, after
I “synced” it to Itunes. It said something like
“Loading updated carrier details”.
Now 3G works beautifully. Maps shows my GPS position to
Within a couple of metres. Can see which end of the house I’m standing in!
I walked into Myer on Pitt St at 2pm, no queue, they had plenty of stock and I got one without any hassle or fuss. People shouldn’t assume you can only get an item from one location.
lol ipad sounds like someone has there irags time for me to ibail anyone who iapple is epic fail-
Does anyone know if you can use a Telstra 3G Dongle for the Ipad… I already have one that I use on my Macbook but keen to know if i can simply plug this in and it will work?
Do not purchase a Micro-Sim from Telstra…. Firstly you are not told at the time of purchase that they are working on their system so will not be able to active your sim until the next day. When you speak to an operator overseas in the Philipines who couldn’t say anything other than what was scripted in front of them and were incapable of getting a Supervisor. A great initiative by Telstra to get cheap employment offshore and provide no service.
