Before kicking off this blog post I wanted to thank everyone for their comments on my previous post and the Telstra Facebook page. I also really appreciate your participation in our ongoing 1c text+ offer survey.
While I was expecting most of the comments to be focused on our Pre-Paid 1c text+ offer, I was pleasantly surprised with your great feedback on what you’re after from your postpaid mobile plan also.
Let us know what you think about the 1c text+ offer/service?
I’ve shared this feedback with my colleagues and we are looking into how we can deliver greater benefits to our postpaid fans as well as Pre-Paid of course.
There’s no denying that we Aussies – particularly youth – have a long-standing love affair with texting. While it’s probably not as ‘sexy’ as its social media cousin, texting remains a popular, quick and easy way to keep in contact with people across the country and around the world.
We know we need to make our texting offers more competitive to suit the changing needs of our customers, so we’re very excited to announce more changes to our 1c Text+ offer, including:
- It’s extended to 31 August! AND
- It now includes BONUS texts to most Australia numbers – regardless of network – when you recharge $30 or above AND
- Look out for some good news on the data front later this month.
So, how do the changes work? Sending text to friends in Australia on another network usually costs 25c per text, so with our 1c Text+ offer, we’re now giving you some for FREE. For example, if you recharge $40 then you’ll get 400 BONUS texts to any mobile network, or 200 BONUS texts with a $30 recharge.
If you are looking to take advantage of our new 1c Text+ offer or just want to know more about it go to the Telstra pre paid offers or drop me a line in the comments section below.
We hope you enjoy this enhancement to the 1c Text+ offer.

You should have offered something for those who choose to recharge $20, a lot of the people who use the 1c text offer are high school students for whom that is all they can afford.
Just joined Telstra pre-paid. So far:
Pros:
good service in store
good reception
pretty sweet deals on recharges $40+ (Talk & Text)
Telstra iPhone app that shows you clearly how much data/calls/text you’ve used up – this is great for controlling your costs and usage
Cons:
Insanely confusing pricing plan. And Talk & Text gives me credit in $$$ but free calls by the minute? Follow the UK’s lead and start charging p/min across the board!
Really expensive data. $10 for 100mb. And $29 for 200mb??? Does that even make sense?
Hi Matt,
Thanks for joining Telstra Pre-Paid. Appreciate your feedback as it goes a long way in helping us ensure we get our offers right for our customers.
On your point about data, from tomorrow we have new Pre-Paid Browse Plus packs that provide our customers better value for money with an increased data allowance.
For example, $10 will now give you 150MB, $20 will give you 300MB and you can get 2GB for $49, where previously you only got 750MB for $59. The 750MB pack will also be reduced to $39. So we hope you enjoy this new pricing and please keep the feedback coming.
Our website will updated with the new pricing from tomorrow and have a look at my latest blog posted today that announces these new data packs plus more good news for Telstra Pre-Paid customers.
Cheers,
Potta
