Last week we launched our first Mobile FOXTEL app for Apple iPhones. It makes switching between and loading Mobile FOXTEL channels – including FOX8, FOX Sports News TV, Fashion TV and MTV – even more intuitive. 

The new app features easy to use menus and an on-screen scrolling channel selector that lets customers browse up to 31 channels with the flick of their finger.

This selector can be accessed while subscribers are watching a TV stream and means customers don’t need to interrupt their mobile TV viewing when searching through alternate channels.

Another useful feature is an integrated TV guide that shows at a glance what’s playing and what’s on next across the range of channels.

FOXTEL subscribers with an iQ set top box can also use the app to remote record television shows while out and about – which is pretty cool.

The app works on both Next G™ iPhone 3G and 3GS models.

As with the Mobile FOXTEL streaming service introduced for iPhones in October last year, video delivered via this app is tailored to the iPhone’s large display and high-speed data capability. Streams also feature stereo sound.

The good news for existing Next G™ iPhone Mobile FOXTEL subscribers is that they will be able to access their subscription automatically via the app once it is downloaded to their iPhones.

A week in and the app seems to be getting a good reception. It’s moved quickly up the list of popular entertainment applications on the iTunes App Store – which is a great sign. We hope it makes accessing mobile TV on the go even easier.
