Is work that different to high school?

blog_school

We wanted to give you an insight into how technology runs our lives.

No doubt you see young people constantly on their mobiles calling, texting or browsing the internet, this has become a necessity for us and the way we keep our social lives on track. We post updates on Facebook about what we are up to at the exact moment: where we are, who we’re with or what we are doing and then our friends can comment on it and it just becomes a continuous cycle.

Maybe there’s a misconception that technology makes young people less social. People think that the time we spend on Facebook somehow takes time away from being face to face. For some people this may be true, but for not for us. We spend time with our friends and we see technology as a way to keep in touch when we’re physically not in their presence.

We’ve been on work experience now for a week and see the use of workplace technology as no different to the use of technology in our social world. Some people use email to communicate with someone who sits 2 desks away. Some people can’t concentrate when they are talking to you because they are on their Blackberry. But most people seem to use technology to get more done – to get more out of life.

Neither of us has ever known a life without all of this constantly updating technology and in all honesty we don’t know how people could live without it.

We both say that technology doesn’t really affect our lives; it enhances it and helps keep us connected and in touch with our friends no matter where we are.

So the question we put to you is: How differently do you communicate now than when you were at high school?

We both say that technology doesn’t really affect our lives; it enhances it and helps keep us connected and in touch with our friends no matter where we are– I agree with almost everything you wrote but when it comes with this sentence, i honestly say i don’t agree with it. I believe it affects our lives, yes it enhances it, keeps us connected even if we are million miles away from our friends/family,makes our life easier in some way– in that point that’s where it affects our lives. But I fully do respect your opinion in this one. It’s great, i had a great time reading it.
